Visible and ultraviolet Raman scattering studies of Si1ÀxGex alloys
We report Raman studies of the Si–Si phonon band in Si12xGex alloys, where the excitation is by visible and ultraviolet ~351 nm! light. At a wavelength 351 nm, the optical penetration depth is extremely shallow ~'5 nm!. By varying the excitation from 351 to 514 nm, the optical penetration depth spans from 5 to 300 nm. Two sets of samples were examined. Thin layers grown using molecular beam epi...
متن کاملWavelength Selectable Solid-State Raman lasers in the Visible and Ultraviolet Ranges
Solid-state Raman lasers are known as important sources at normally difficult to access wavelengths, and our recent studies have shown that they also form the basis of a class of wavelength selectable lasers. This paper summarizes our recent studies in wavelength selectable Raman lasers in the visible (532-650 nm) and ultraviolet (266-321 nm).
متن کاملFemtosecond stimulated Raman scattering in pressurized gases in the ultraviolet and visible spectral ranges
We investigate femtosecond stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in H2, D2, HD, and CH4 excited with 300-fsduration pulses at 390-nm wavelength and with as much as 0.1 mJ of energy. We show that the SRSgeneration threshold and conversion efficiency are due to the transient nature of SRS in femtosecond regime. We determine optimal conditions for efficient generation in the broad spectral range 289–7...
متن کاملpostnatal studies of bats (pipistrellus kuhlii and miniopterus schreibersii) & histomorphology and histochemistry studies of organs and diseases of (neurergus microspilotus and n. kaiseri)
1. to determine whether difference in birth body mass influenced growth performance in pipistrellus kuhlii we studied a total of 12 captive-born neonates. bats were assigned to two body mass groups: light birth body mass (lbw: 0.89 ± 0.05, n=8) and heavy birth body mass (hbw: 1.35 ± 0.08, n=4). heavier body mass at birth was associated with rapid postnatal growth (body mass and forearm length) ...
Increased wavelength options in the visible and ultraviolet for Raman lasers operating on dual Raman modes.
We report increased wavelength options from Raman lasers for Raman media having two Raman modes of similar gain coefficient. For an external-cavity potassium gadolinium tungstate Raman laser pumped at 532 nm, we show that two sets of Stokes orders are generated simultaneously by appropriate orientation of the Raman crystal, and also wavelengths that correspond to sums of the two Raman modes. Up...
